Sujet: Bollywood: mix of cultures Ven 24 Nov - 16:26
This document is a video which presents the history of the Indian cinema. In 1896, the Lumière Brothers projected their first movies in Mumbai. It was an immediate success. At the time, India was a British colony, and it was a poor country (it was impoverished by colonisation) where most people didn’t go to school, and couldn’t read, they were illiterate. That’s why they rushed to the cinema. From the start, Indian movies were a mix of influences. They were a melting pot of
European influences (with the French inventors of the cinematograph, the British colonisers, the German movie makers who fled Germany during the war);
American influence (with Hollywood);
but also Indian traditional music, dance, poetry and mythology.
influences européennes (avec les inventeurs français du cinématographe, les colonisateurs britanniques, les cinéastes allemands qui ont fui l’Allemagne pendant la guerre);
influence américaine (avec Hollywood);
